Since its establishment on May 18, 2013, as the first national association representing the biomedical profession in Morocco, the Moroccan Society of Biomedical (SMB) has brought together all Moroccan stakeholders in the biomedical field, including professionals, graduates, and students.

The primary objectives that motivated the creation of the SMB are:

  • To promote and enhance the recognition of the biomedical profession at both national and international levels.
  • To advance scientific research in the biomedical field and contribute to improving the quality of healthcare
  • To defend the unique characteristics of the profession and restore its image to reflect its noble mission.

Achieving these objectives requires organized and collaborative efforts by everyone committed to advancing the
biomedical field, including:

  • Collaborating closely with key stakeholders in the biomedical sector.
  • Disseminating relevant information and professional publications.
  • Participating in national and international professional and institutional bodies.
  • Keeping track of technological advancements and monitoring changes in the operations of healthcare facilities.
Today, biomedical professionals are encouraged to rethink their role, which goes beyond the procurement and maintenance of medical devices or mere compliance with regulations. They are expected to play a critical role in technical expertise, providing guidance in the development of strategies for healthcare facilities, whether in investment planning or technical restructuring projects.

The SMB works to expand its network by building connections with all stakeholders in the health sector and maintaining
close ties with medical scientific societies. It also contributes to technological monitoring in complementary fields such as
radiology and anesthesiology-resuscitation. Moreover, it is deeply involved in regulatory aspects and the implementation
of materiovigilance standards across Morocco.

Despite the challenges faced, the SMB’s executive team is currently working on well-structured projects aimed at integrating all biomedical professionals. This collective approach is designed to harness the full potential of available skills and resources.
